What Next After NYSC Camp 2026: Do These 4 Important Things!
Many corps members ask: “What is the next step after NYSC orientation camp?”
Once the 21-day orientation exercise ends, your service year officially begins.
What you do immediately after camp is very important.
What’s Next After NYSC Camp?
Here are the three major steps every corps member must take after leaving NYSC camp.
1. Collect Your NYSC Posting Letter
Before leaving camp, ensure you collect your NYSC posting letter from your platoon officer (if you did not apply for relocation inside camp).
Your posting letter contains PPA, LGA, and your LGI details.
Do not leave camp without collecting this letter.
Make at least one photocopy before submitting it anywhere.
2. Report to Your Place of Primary Assignment
Immediately after camp, proceed to your assigned PPA.
Your PPA could be a secondary school, a government office, a private company, or a university or institution.
Present your posting letter to the head of the organization.
They will accept you (by stamping and signing the detachable portion), or reject you (which means you must get reposted).
Whether accepted or rejected, take the stamped detachable slip to your LGI office for documentation.
If you were approved for relocation in camp, travel to your new state, report first at the NYSC state secretariat, and complete documentation before looking for a PPA.
3. Report to Your LGI (Local Government Inspector)
After your PPA accepts or rejects you, proceed to the LGI office.
The LGI will document your PPA status, assign you to a CDS group, and explain monthly clearance procedures.
If your PPA rejected you, do not proceed further until you get a new PPA.
Your LGI may repost you, or you may find a new organization and obtain a request letter.
4. Apply for Your 2-Weeks Leave (Optional but Recommended)
After proper documentation, corps members are entitled to a two-week leave.
Before traveling, write a leave application letter, submit it through your LGI, and get approval.
Do NOT travel without proper documentation to avoid being marked absent.
The period immediately after NYSC camp determines how smooth your service year will be.
Move quickly, follow due process, and avoid unnecessary travel before documentation.
Once you complete these steps, you can relax and settle into your service year properly.
